Why this document is needed
The licence number is how the authority and the customer know the premise is in the food-safety system. Packs and display boards often must show it when the rules say so.
A GSTIN does not authorise food handling. A driving licence does not either. Food is its own statute.
Wrong category (central vs state vs basic) delays or rejects the file. Activity and turnover must match what you actually do.

- Showing the number on labels and at the counter when the regulations require it
Problems that can come up
- Operating a covered food business without the right document can lead to inspection, seizure or stop-work, depending on the authority and facts.
- Platforms may refuse to list you. A landlord may refuse possession.
